I am Richard H. Barch, K.C. lawyer and sole practitioner at COY, BARCH. I’ve been practicing law since 1966 as a barrister, solicitor, and notary public. My firm, Coy, Barch, presently provides legal counsel regarding Wills and Estate issues. I believe that your loved ones should benefit as you decide and that your wishes be respected.
I graduated from the University of Ottawa with a law degree in 1964. While attending the University of Ottawa, I played both basketball and football for the University of Ottawa Gee Gees.
Thereafter, I attended the Bar Admission Course at Osgoode Hall, Toronto, after which I was admitted to practice law in 1966. I joined Edward Platt Coy, Q.C.’s law firm in March 1967 and practiced with Mr. Coy until his retirement, carrying on the firm as a sole practitioner.
I was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1982, now King’s Counsel (K.C.). During my practice of law, I did civil litigation, criminal law, real estate law, family law, and child welfare law and have been active in the Courts. Presently, the matters I mostly handle consist of Wills and Estates.
I also continued studying through the University of Toronto’s mediation courses.
I am now a lifetime member of the Law Society of Ontario. I’m also a member of the Knights of Columbus, previously serving as a Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator.
In 2022, I was inducted into the University of Ottawa Football Hall of Fame, along with my teammates.
